Spiritual Healings

Each Wednesday evening members and guests share how they have applied Christian Science to their life and the healing and blessings that resulted from that prayerful application. Over the past few months there have been testimonies about:

Reports of healing

• Sun stroke healed.
  When her husband was stationed in Turkey many years ago a young woman found herself cooking out of doors one weekend, in the hot sun.   Her in-laws were visiting from the US and it was thought wise to cook American food as they traveled throughout the Country.  That evening she began to get dizzy and was very uncomfortable.  She prayed to know that God was right there protecting her and helping her.  They continued on their travels to Greece and a boat trip.  She prayed constantly for the next few days and was completely healed.  On their return to Turkey she found out that it had been extremely hot, over 116 degrees that weekend and the newspapers reported many found themselves in the hospital for some time. She was so grateful for God’s tender loving care no matter where she was.
  
  Some years later she and her family were visiting friends in Kansas. They went horseback riding in the middle of the afternoon. Again, not realizing the summer heat at mid day and went riding without hats. When her daughter was getting off her horse she slid and fainted into her mothers' arms. Realizing it was the same claim of sun stroke, she immediately denied that the sun could affect a child of God. Within an hour the child was up and well.
• Harmony in business
  A businessman spoke of driving to a client many miles away with his crew just to find the client not ready for him, and wanting them to come back another time. That would have meant the loss of both time and money. He turned and went outside to calm his thought, turn from anger and resentment and trust that God had a plan for all of them. When he went back in, the attendant was ready and helpful and the job was done quickly and harmoniously. He was very grateful.
• Foot injury healed
  A mother spoke of her teenage daughter who hurt her toe. The girls were just joking around about it the mother thought of the little saying, "there is no spot where God is not." After some time however, the problem with the toe became more alarming and just before going to camp for the summer the daughter became very alarmed. The Mother realized that it was time for some serious prayer. They prayed to realize that they did not have to believe the false evidence of the material senses, but to look for the evidence of God's perfect child. Within a couple of days, just before she left for camp, the toe was healed. They were both very grateful.
• Family Guidance & Healing
  A young mother testified as to how grateful she was to have Christian Science as a foundation to help her in raising her two children. And so grateful for their receptivity to the truths she has to share. Her husband helps her son with his algebra homework and she supports him metaphysically with words of comfort and confidence. He responds with great grades and the acknowledgement of how turning to the One Mind enables him to do well.
  • Her daughter is a gymnast and has been having some trouble with her ankle. As they have been praying about it, she was so grateful to assure her daughter that she was the perfect reflection of a perfect God – perfect right now! Strength and healing are taking place.
• Another woman was grateful for the Christian Science camps that give the children the opportunity to put into practice what they have been learning in Sunday School. This woman had just been to a Bible seminar on the book of Daniel and was so grateful to learn that one of the ideas they share at camp is "Dare to be a Daniel". To live, speak and stand for the truths of Christian Science.
• Practicality of Christian Science
  A gentleman reported his gratitude for the practicality of Christian Science. He knew he would have to have the house re-carpeted soon. It was such a daunting task he could hardly face it. However, it became clear that now was the time. Turning to God in prayer each step of the way unfolded as to what to do and how to do it. There were several delays, but each time he knew that God was guiding every step, and each delay became a blessing. It enabled him to get something else done that he hadn't planned to do, like painting some walls. He and his wife worked quickly listening to God for guidance and knowing that God was giving them the strength to do whatever needed to be done. The whole project was completed in perfect order.
  • His wife also testified regarding an experience they had when choosing colors of carpet and paint. When the carpet came she wasn't sure it was the color that they had wanted. And later said, "I guess I am just not good at choosing colors." She stopped herself right there, because she had just read something that Mrs. Eddy had said about correcting a mis-statement immediately. It was a mis-statement to affirm that God's child could make a mistake. So she corrected that. Later when they went to choose some paint color she affirmed that as God's reflection she could know exactly what was right. They looked at many, many colors, immediately the right one stood out to her. That was the one they ultimately choose and it proved to be perfect.
• Protection from animals
  [A woman shared the account related to her from a Christian Science Chaplin in the Armed Forces.] While overseas on a tour of duty this Chaplin, a woman, found herself very disliked by the men under her command, both because she was a woman and a Christian Scientist. One day she asked if she could run with the men, they said they were going to go for a ten mile run. She said fine! Half way through the run, the men suddenly began climbing trees and walls and she found herself left alone in the middle of a pack of wild dogs. Turing immediately to God in prayer she was led to spot the lead dog. She knelt down and looked him right in the eyes and began to repeat the first chapter of Genesis where God created everything good. Very soon the dog turned and left and the pack followed. As you can image the men respected her from then on.
• More protection from animal bites
  When on a trip with some other folks to a National Park this testifier was bitten on the back during the night. Although it was painful they continued on their way and made every effort to pray. However, the swelling became very great and when she got home she turned earnestly in prayer to God and realized that as an idea of God she could not be poisoned. All God's creatures are good and cannot harm another idea. By morning she was completely healed.
• Tumor healed
  A lady expressed gratitude for being introduced to Christian Science years ago. She recently came across a testimony that her mother had written which appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel, February 17, 1968. Her mother had a beautiful healing of a fibroid tumor which she had had for many years and for which physicians had said would need surgery to remove. She would never agree to this. Some friends then introduced her to Christian Science and gave her a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. She began to read and read. When a bout with this problem occurred again she called a Christian Science practitioner, who assured her of God's omnipresent love, available to everyone at all times, under every circumstance. The healing began immediately. The practitioner reminded her of Mrs. Eddy's statement, "Because man is the reflection of his Maker, he is not subject to birth, growth, maturity, decay…" (Science and Health Pg. 305) Her thought was so filled with these wonderful truths that she stopped thinking about the body. The pain subsided and the internal organs returned to their proper position. She was completely healed.

• Lost & Found
  A gentleman shared his gratitude at being able to use the understanding of Christian Science when things seem to be lost. Sometime ago, following a trip he had taken, he couldn't find his appointment book. He looked all over for it and then realized he should pray, and listen for divine Mind to lead him as to what to do. He thought of the word "immanent", and looked up the definition. One of the meanings meant "within'. He began to reason that all right ideas are already within the consciousness of each one of us.
  As he was pondering these ideas the thought came to send a letter to the airlines telling them exactly what flight he had been on, the exact seat he was in and ask if anyone had found his appointment book. As he was writing the letter the thought came that it was such a large airline they would not even consider his letter. But the idea to send the letter had come to him through prayer, so it was going to be sent. Low and behold after some time, when the mail arrived there was his appointment book. He was very grateful to learn once again that turning to God in prayer, brings results. Some years later he again misplaced his appointment book. He began looking around the house, but remembering the earlier experience, he turned more quickly to God and began to listen. A thought came to him immediately as to where it might be. He went directly there and there it was.
• A young lady testified that when she was very young, on a trip to Chicago with her parents, she had visited a museum all day while her folks were at a meeting. When they went to pick her up she noticed that a pearl was missing from her ring. It was a treasured ring that her grandparents had given her. She immediately went back and asked to go into the Museum explaining that she had lost the pearl. They doubted that she could find such a little thing in the large museum. But she was confident in Gods' direction. Went right to a certain spot and found the little pearl on the floor, and came back to show the admission attendants and her parents.
  • Some year later, now a young lady living on her own in Connecticut, she was up and down stairs in her apartment doing wash and such things when she realized that a small Safire stone was missing from another ring given to her by her grandparents. Turing to God in prayer she went right outside in the snow and found the little gem lying right on top of the white snow. Absolute faith and conviction in Love's care, lead her in both cases to listen and to look and to find.
  • And later when working in a baby store she saw a lady looking around for something she had misplaced. Without even a thought she went upstairs in the shop, went right to a crib leaned over and found the missing article and returned it to the customer. Mind's immediacy when listened too, was proven.
• Another gentleman shared his gratitude for understanding more clearly that there are not two worlds – only one. All is Mind and its ideas and things are just ideas. That helps when we think we have lost something – all ideas are in Mind and that Mind knows right where they are. We can listen through prayer and be led perfectly.
